THE WESTERN LOCOMOTIVE RESEARCH SOCIETY
The Western Locomotive Research Society was formed in 2010 with the aim of collecting, resourcing, researching, preserving and publishing as much official and unofficial archive material about the Western Class 52 locomotives of British Rail (1961-77).
The Society already has a number of members who have contributed to the archive legacy concerning these much-missed locomotives. The Society's first publication will be the 'Westerns' - the definitive loco-by-loco guide to the Class 52s.
Under the care of our president, the dedicated researcher, author and historian Adrian Curtis, the WLRS hopes to become the first stop-off place for enthusiasts, researchers and publishers looking for information, pictures and other archive material.
Membership of the WLRS is by invitation only and prospective members are advised that a successful application for membership will depend on what research material about the Western Class 52 locomotives that he/she can supply to the Society. Once accepted, members have access to all the records held/shared by the WLRS.

The Western Locomotive Research Society is more than happy to assist with providing information for magazine articles, slide presentations, reviews or any other type of media study relating to the Western Class 52 locomotives.
We are able to draw on a wide range of resources from within the Society - from modellers to historians and photographers. We have plenty of research expertise and material within the Western Class 52 field.
We have assisted various railway magazines and book publishers with photographs, articles and reviews and we are also able to provide people for interviews if and when required.
