First published in 1978, Western Anthology was a groundbreaking book, detailing the author's quest to locate and ride behind doomed Western Class 52 locomotives in the final years of their lives. The author followed some of this work in the anecdotal section of the critically acclaimed 'Cast of Thousands' (2000) and now he returns to his writing roots to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Western Anthology, with its long awaited sequel - 'DAYS OF THUNDER'.

Noted for his railway and hydraulic research since the end of the fleet in 1977, 'Days of Thunder' sees the author delve into his vast memory bank to capture the atmosphere of a period when the Western class were roaring into the history books with each passing year. Joy, sadness, frustration, desperation, anger, farewells, excitement and much more is captured in an evocative and passionate manner as the author transports the reader back in time to a period of innocence loved by us all.

'Days of Thunder', an A5, 36-page, booklet - similar to Western Anthology will be released on this website on September 1. If you loved Anthology and the anecdotes contained in Cast of Thousands, then 'you will love 'Days of Thunder'. It is a must for all those who long for those much-missed days of our youth when adidas bags, ben sherman shirts, air-wear boots, piano-like tape recorders and instamatic cameras were all the rage on the sun-kissed Western Region.
